cabin 18

story

Along the rugged Pacific edge, Cabin 18 reimagines a beloved family retreat as an exercise in restraint—an expansion driven by a desire for deeper calm, privacy, and connection to the horizon. A translucent bridge links old and new, creating a deliberate threshold between public and private life while framing uninterrupted views of the sea, where daily noise gives way to the rhythm of tide and light. Steel, wood, and glass anchor the home in its coastal setting, blurring interior and horizon, while a re-formed roofline quietly unites memory and modernity. Inland, a sheltered courtyard offers intimacy and refuge; along the shore, weathering steel elements age gracefully into the landscape. More than an addition, Cabin 18 is a meditation on renewal—a home designed not to impress, but to exhale.
